Rosie the Hippo by Kate E. Hancock - Digital Version
Far too cute to spend her time in the mud by the waterhole, Rosie the Hippo would much rather be added to your collection. With her wide snout and tiny little ears, she measures approximately 5 – 6” (12.75 – 15cm), and is just waiting to be your friend. Suitable for an intermediate crocheter, the pattern is made in a spiral of continuous rounds, and uses a variety of stitches and techniques which are clearly explained in the numerous diagrams and photos. Rosie can be created using any DK yarn, but why not try our own awarding winning Deramores Studio DK, a beautifully soft acrylic yarn with anti-pilling technology. Rose would look fabulous in Mist or Smoke. Please be aware that Studio DK is a 100g ball. To complete your hippo you will need: 2 x 50g balls (or 1 x 100g ball) of Main Shade 3.5mm (USE/4) crochet hook 3.25mm (US D/3) crochet hook for the crocheted eyes option Small amount of yarn for crocheted eyes option 2 x 20mm safety eyes - though please note that Kate handpainted the safety eyes in the illustration for extra appeal - they are usually either a plain black or 'googly' Stuffing Yarn needle Stitch markers Please note: Rosie is crocheted using UK terminology.
