Stitch of the Week: Fancy Rib Stitch

Another week, another stitch! This time, get your needles around the Fancy Rib stitch. This technique would look great on a range of products includes scarves, sweaters and even pretty summer cardigans!

Fancy Rib Stitch

This stitch is worked over a multiple of 4 stitches plus 1. 2 rows form the pattern.

1st row (RS): *K1, P1, K into the front and back of next st, P1, rep from * to last st, k1.

2nd row: *P1, K1, P2 tog, K1, rep from * to last st, P1.

NOTE

Purl 2 together (P2 tog), second and every alternate row: Insert right-hand needle purlwise into next 2 stitches on left-hand needle. Wind yarn round needle and draw loop through back of stitches and allow to drop off left-hand needle.

Knit into the front and back of next stitch, first and every alternate row (A): Insert the point of the right-hand needle knitwise into the next stitch. Wind yarn round needle, draw loop through stitch but do not allow stitch to drop off left-hand needle.

Knit into the front and back of next stitch, first and every alternate row (B): Insert right-hand needle knitwise into the back of the stitch. Wind yarn round needle, draw loop through stitch and allow it to drop off left-hand needle.
