We're delighted to bring back a french favourite to the Deramores site, however, if you're new to Bergère the brand, give this blog a read and you'l learn all about their fantastic history.
Bergère de France, quality yarns made in France
Created by Robert Petit in 1946, Bergère de France puts over sixty-five years of yarn know-how and passion at your service. The French knitting yarn company is still family owned and is now run by his son, Jean-Louis and grandson Geoffroy.
For over half a century, Bergère de France has developed a perfect balance of time-honoured tradition and the latest technical innovations. Based in Bar-le-Duc, in the heart of the Lorraine region, it is the last industrial woollen mill in France to manufacture hand-knitting yarns. Covering an area of 14 acres and employing around 400 people, it is one of the largest and most advanced mills of its kind in Europe.
Keeping all the production under one roof allows them to ensure the best quality by controlling the whole process from research and development to the finished product. Every year they produce over 15,000,000 balls of wool in 42 different yarns and hundreds of different shades, and over 400 original patterns are designed.
Since 1971 their products have been available in a network of shops and retailers, first across France and now worldwide, and we're delighted to be stocking the brand once again!
